why mindfulness for kids?
about the classes
A typical mindfulness for kids class is between 30 minutes and 1 hour long and specially designed for children of that particular age group.
Our classes combine meditation, breathing and awareness exercises to encourage a sense of calm, focus and relaxation.
We also offer Mindfulness for Teens classes & workshops plus Meditation for Staff & Parents.
Focus on child mental health has increased in recent times with a 2017 survey showing that one in eight (12.8%) 5 to 19 year olds had at least one mental disorder*.
Stress levels can run high with exams, bullying, family issues and pressure from social media cited among the many contributing factors. Mindfulness can help lead children towards positive mental health and a happier outlook.
Mindfulness helps children to become aware of their own feelings and worries in the present, the reasons behind those feelings and how to process them in a positive way. It also provides a valuable time during the day for calm and reflection.
